What Is Diabetes?

What Is Diabetes? - Diabetes or Diabetes Mellitus (DM), in Greek means translucent or fountain, and from Latin has a sense of sweetness, while in Indonesia DM is better known as diabetes, in which the level of glucose (simple sugar) in the blood to be High because the body can not produce or secrete enough insulin. And from some tests directly, in general urine people with diabetes is sweet because it contains a lot of sugar.

Every food we eat will be converted into energy by the body. In the stomach and intestines, food is broken down into several basic elements, including one type of sugar, namely glucose. If there is sugar, the pancreas produces insulin, which helps to drain the sugar into the cells of the body. Then, the sugar can be absorbed well in the body and burned to produce energy.

When a person has diabetes the person's pancreas can not produce enough insulin to absorb sugars from food. That's what causes the sugar in the blood to be high due to the pile of sugar from foods that can not be absorbed properly and burned into energy. Another cause is a defective insulin or the body can not utilize insulin properly.

Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas, an organ next to the stomach. This hormone attaches itself to the receptors on the cell wall. Insulin is responsible for opening up receptors on the cell wall so that glucose enters the cell. Then the cells convert glucose into energy that the body needs to perform the activity. In other words, insulin helps to channel sugar into the cells to be converted into energy. If the amount of insulin is not enough, then there is accumulation of sugar in the blood causing diabetes.

The cause of diabetes or diabetes depends on the type of diabetes suffered. There are 2 types of diabetes commonly affects people with type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.
The difference is if type 1 diabetes because of pancreas organ function problems can not produce insulin, whereas type 2 diabetes is due to a lack of insulin problem, not because the pancreas can not function properly.

Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is often also called Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus or Diabetes Mellitus Without Depending on Insulin. In contrast to type 1 diabetest, in type 2 the problem is not because the pancreas does not make insulin but because the insulin is not enough. Most of the insulin produced is inhaled by fat cells due to poor lifestyle and diet. While the pancreas can not make enough insulin to overcome the lack of insulin so that blood sugar levels will rise.

Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes. Approximately 90% to 95% of diabetics have type 2 diabetes. This type of diabetes is most commonly afflicted by adults over the age of 30 and tends to progressively gradually.

Causes of Type 2 Diabetes
The cause of type 2 diabetes due to insulin produced by the pancreas is not sufficient to bind the sugar present in the blood due to unhealthy diet or lifestyle. Some of the leading causes of type 2 diabetes can be summarized as follows:

Hereditary factors, if the parents or the existence of siblings who experienced it.
Unhealthy diet or lifestyle. The number of fast food outlets or fast food that serves fatty and unhealthy foods.
    High cholesterol levels.
    Rarely exercise.
    Obese or overweight.

All the causes of type 2 diabetes are generally due to unhealthy lifestyles. This makes the metabolism in the body is not perfect so as to make insulin in the body can not function properly. The hormone insulin can be absorbed by the fat present in the body. So the unhealthy diet and haya life can make the body lack of insulin.

Type 2 Diabetes Treatment
Treatment of type 2 diabetes is by forcing the function of the pancreas so that it can produce more insulin. If the pancreas can produce insulin the body needs, then the blood sugar levels will decrease because it can be converted into energy. In many cases, it can be treated by taking pills, at least initially, to stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin. The pill itself is not insulin.

However, the pancreas can be tired of producing insulin if it is constantly forced. The best way to deal with type 2 diabetes is with a good diet to reduce weight and sugar levels, along with appropriate bodybuilding.
